Hand shaped clay is a pottery workshop dedicated to the art of hand-building. In a relaxed studio setting, participants will explore fundamental hand-building techniques such as

pinching, coiling, and slab construction.

The workshop focuses on shaping clay by hand, encouraging creativity, material awareness and a personal connection to the making process. Suitable for beginners as well as those with some experience. In addition to learning how to form your pieces, you will also have the opportunity to beautifully

decorate them. While ceramics are traditionally colored after the first firing, I offer special underglaze colors that can be applied directly onto the wet clay. This allows you to paint and design your piece immediately, giving you more creative freedom during the process.

A variety of stamps and tools are available to add patterns, textures or even written words to your work. You are also welcome to use flowers, leaves and plants as natural stamps, creating delicate and unique imprints with beautiful organic details. For each participant Swiss clay will be provided for creating anything delicate whether a cup, small bowl, decorative object or sculptural form. After the workshop, I will carefully refine your piece, allow it to dry properly and handle the full firing process. Your piece will be bisque fired, glazed and fired a second time (each firing process takes more than a day).

Once completed, your finished ceramic piece will be

ready for pickup. All materials, tools, colors, glazing, and firings are included in the workshop.
